WEG Pump Genius Features

The Pump Genius offers numerous features that facilitate ease of operation, reliability, and energy-efficiency. These features include:

  • Energy-Efficiency - The PID controller helps you generate superior performance from your variable speed drives. In most cases, it is capable of reducing power consumption by up to 50%.
  • Sleep Boost - The Sleep Boost/Wake-Up Modes allow you to reduce energy consumption when demand falls below required levels for extended periods. This places the pump in standby mode. Conversely, when overpressure occurs, it will temporarily boost operation until the pressure subsides. Finally, when pressure falls below your minimum set point, the wake-up mode will restart the pump.
  • Pipe Charging - WEG's pipe charging function ensures that there is proper filling and lubrication.
  • Dry Pump Protection - Few things are more damaging than a dry pump. WEG's sensors within the Pump Genius detect and warn operators of a dry pump and shut it down before damage can occur.
  • Broken Pipe/Leak Detection - Leaks can cause considerable damage to your systems. Broken pipe/leak detection features within the WEG Pump Genius detect when the pump is utilizing more power than usual using load and speed data. When a leak is detected, it alerts the operator and can automatically shut the pump down.
  • Pump Cavitation Monitoring - When low fluid levels occur, the pump can cavitate. When this happens, the Pump Genius reduces pressure within the pipeline to protect the pipes' integrity and protect against mechanical breaks or impeller damage.
  • Fixed/Floating Controls - Fixed or floating controls can be selected to ensure wear and tear distribution over multiple pumps. This helps preserve system integrity and ensures that each individual pump is brought online or taken offline before excessive wear and tear can occur.
  • Jockey Pump - When low demand happens, the WEG Pump Genius transfers operation to your smaller pumps. When demand increases, it is transferred to your larger pumps. This helps preserve efficiency and reduces wear and tear on your pumps.
  • Deragging - Deragging helps ensure that your impeller is clean of debris. This helps reduce clogs, improves impeller performance, and protects your pumps from severe damage.
  • Master/Slave Configuration - The Master/Slave modes of the WEG Pump Genius gives you total managerial control over your pumping systems. When one of your variable speed drives is damaged or malfunctioning, the configuration nominates an alternative variable speed drive as the master. This ensures your systems remain operational even when one or more of your drives goes down.
  • Force Rotation - This ensures the last pump within your system is shut off when the rotation drops below low speed, but it is not at your preset sleep mode settings.

Simplex, Multipump, & Multiplex

WEG's Simplex offers numerous features to the variable speed drive, which significantly improve pump control. Its primary feature is that it allows for the control of a single pump. It can be used as a frequency inverter that controls speed based on your specific needs.

Multipump is a cost-effective option that is ideal for integrating anywhere from two to five pumps within a single variable speed drive. The inverter identifies which pump(s) will operate, which gives you significant control over your system. This helps spread wear and tear and ensures continued operation during servicing or when demand drops below pump capacity.

Multiplex is a complete solution that delivers accurate, reliable flow control. It is highly effective at reliably maintaining pressure within variable speed drives. It can be used to control two or more pumps in parallel and offers the same control as the multipump.
