Wistex Car Show Benefitting WAGS and A Woman’s Place
Here at Wistex, we’re proud to be a part of the local community and we take any opportunity we can to give something back. This past weekend (Sunday, November 12th, 2017) we decided to help out two great local charities by opening up our parking lot at 1730 Stout Drive in Warminster, PA and putting on a car show benefitting A Woman’s Place and WAGS Rescue and Referral, both located in Bucks County.
Wistex Charity Car Show
We’re car guys, and so are many of the folks who work with us every day. That’s why we thought a charity car show would be the perfect way to raise money for two of our favorite local charities. All in all, about 40 cars entered the show this year, from American classics to hot rod imports, motorcycles, and more. We fired up the grill for some burgers and dogs with all the fixings. To help raise even more money, we held raffles for car-related products like tools, as well as fun Wistex swag including pens, cups, and lots more. The owners of the top three cars in the show also received a bucket filled with car cleaning products to keep their rides in tip-top shape (plus a cool Wistex sweatshirt to represent their favorite electrical products supplier. By the end of the day, we managed to raise hundreds of dollars for each charity. This year’s car show was a resounding success and we’d love to repeat that success next year. If you’d like to attend another Wistex car show or have ideas for other events, reach out to us on social media; we’d love to hear from you.
A Woman’s Place (AWP)
This is the only domestic violence organization in Bucks County, PA, providing comprehensive, free, confidential service for victims of domestic violence and their children. AWP has been serving the community for over 40 years and Wistex is proud to be helping them achieve their goal of empowering women and ending domestic violence in our area. They are always accepting donations and looking for volunteers, so if you’re interested in getting involved, give AWP a call at (215) 343-9241, or send an email to email@example.com.
WAGS Rescue and Referral
A small group of volunteers started WAGS after Hurricane Katrina to help dogs displaced by the storm find loving homes here in Pennsylvania. Of course, the mission to help match shelter dogs with people who can care for them properly is never-ending, so they decided to continue their work after Katrina. These days, they help save dogs from “high kill” shelters in the south and bring them to Pennsylvania to receive much needed veterinary care and hopefully, find permanent families for them. They hold adoption events regularly in our area, so visit wagsrescue.com to find out when the next one is coming to a location near you! If you’re interested in making a donation or becoming a volunteer, you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the contact form on their website.
Once again, Wistex is so thankful for the opportunity to give back to two great local charities. We encourage you to get involved by contacting A Woman’s Place or WAGS Rescue and Referral. Thanks to everyone who came to our car show; we hope to see you at the next one!
